In this first section on algebra during year 9, we really want to get a good understanding of what we use letters for when doing mathematics, and why they are helpful. For now we will be mostly looking at **expressions**, which don’t show a **relationship**, but simply provide an efficient way of stating something.

We will break this topic down into the following 7 areas:

5.) Algebraic fractions;

6.) Substituting into expressions;
