y9. Algebra. A. Expressions & Formulae

In this first section on algebra during year 9, we really want to get a good understanding of what we use letters for when doing mathematics, and why they are helpful. For now we will be mostly looking at expressions, which don’t show a relationship, but simply provide an efficient way of stating something.

We will break this topic down into the following 7 areas:

1.) Indices rules;

2.) Collecting like terms;

3.) Expanding brackets;

4.) Factorising expressions;

5.) Algebraic fractions;

6.) Substituting into expressions;

7.) Changing the subject of a formula.;

8.) General practice with expressions and formulae.
