Place value is perhaps the most important concept that needs to be understood to do arithmetic with mathematics.

The value of a number is determined by combining its face value and its place value. Reading a number from left to right, every digit has a place value ten times less than the previous one. Let’s consider the place values of the digits in the number 2034.74
